What does LED mean?

LED means "Light Emitting Diode". Basically it is a semiconductor which emits light of narrow spectrum of radiation when an electrical voltage is supplied in the direction of forward bias (forward-biased).

How to determine IP rating?

The IP rating specifies the strength of the housing, which protects the active parts from foreign bodies, dust and the influx of water. The IP rating defined by two digits:

The first digit takes values from 0 to 6. On the one hand, defines how much the housing prevents access to dangerous parts, either preventing or limiting the input of body parts (eg. Finger) or objects held a person (eg screwdriver). On the other hand, specifies how much the housing protects the live parts from dust.

The second digit takes values from 0 to 8. Determine how much the housing protects the conductive parts of the incoming water and the damage water could cause.

The European standard EN 60529 specifies how to install housing during tests, the atmospheric conditions should prevail, the size and dimensions of the different objects that can be used, and also the proper allocation of water or dust to simulate actual operating conditions.
